So far St Maarten has been a flurry of socializing, boat work, cinema going and blog writing. As far as I can see the only reason for going to St Maarten would be to fix up your boat, make money, or meet loads of ,mainly American, cruisers at the many happy hours or on the daily radio net.
We have been here for about two weeks now. Our original plan was to come here to do repairs, provision and then cross the atlantic back to the UK via Bermuda but since we have no plans as to what to do on the other side we are having second thoughts.
There is a bar called Turtle Pier which hosts a get -together every wednesday for cruisers. We have been to it twice and it is great fun. You can get chips and hamburgers for US$3 each and drinks for US$1. At Turtle Pier they keep monkeys and parrots that you can feed!!!
The net is run by Mike who is Australian and sometimes funny! It starts at 7:30 AM and has different category's like arrivals and departures, buy sell and swap, security and they read the weather forecast. The water is really murky and polluted here so we went to Marigot Bay by to swim.
Sorry but I have no pics yet.
