Post 3

We’re 2 weeks into our house-sit now and Christmas is looming! I have finally finished sawing up the pile of firewood which has been sitting in the drive for ages.
A few days ago, we visited Caroline in her luxurious house in the next valley along from us. It was quite a surprise to find that she was living (temporarily) so close to us as she was a family friend! We cycled to the house and spent the afternoon there. THEY HAD A HEATED POOL…. :-)  which jay and I swam in and there was a BBQ. We also met some other expats who were invited.
We’ve also been to Velez Malaga on our bikes. It’s about 15km away and is the nearest big town (not quite a city). Since Torres del Mar (another town) was nearby, we went there aswell. Torres del Mar is a tourist town with loads of high-rises and big English, Dutch and German communities. We went to a bookshop there, had lunch and got mum’s bike fixed (it had a clicking-crank). The route between Velez Malaga and Torres del mar was very muddy because there had been lots of rain the day before we went.
Last weekend, I met the next door neighbour’s (Alphonso’s) son (Jaimie) and his friends at the pub which Alphonso runs. We had a great time and I learnt some new Spanish words. They are only around on the weekends but they live right next door so I can see them whenever they’re around.
