My name is Sam and I am 13 years old.I live on a boat called Sea Warrior with my mum(Susan),my Sister(Jay) and my Dad (Scot).
We come from Aberfeldy in Scotland and we have been traveling since March 2005.
Sea Warrior is a 48 foot steel ketch and is 20 tonnes.
First we came to Ireland from Scotland and traveled down the coast to the isles of Scilly in England.Then we we went down to France,Spain and Portugal.We dotted down their coasts until we got to Lagos in Portugal.We were very slow.Then we sailed the 4 day and night trip to the Canary Islands in pretty wild and windy weather with big waves.We stayed in the Canary islands for a year due to generator problems so Jay and I went to the public school in Las Palmas!
After the generator problems were fixed we got Sea Warrior ready to go south. We travelled to Mauritania where we had fishermen offering us fish in the middle of the night near the coast!We sailed on to Senegal where everyone spoke french and the smells were very strong!English-speaking Gambia was our next port.Here we sailed up the river Gambia and visited the people inland.We met a family from Peebles and they spent "hogmonay"(new year)with us.
My Dad then sailed singlehanded to Brazil while the rest of us went home to Scotland on a plane to see our family and friends.
We all met up again in Salvador in Brazil and decided to buy a caravan and car to travel around south america.We spent a year or so visiting Argentina,Chile and Paraguay.We spent christmas 2007 in Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego and a lot of time in Patagonia.
When we got back to Sea Warrior in Salvador,Brazil,there was a lot of work to be done on her.We all got down to work getting her ready to go north to the carribean.Two and a half months later ,my Dad and Jay set off for Trinidad on' Sea Warrior 'while my Mum and I went by plane.
I am starting my BLOG here in Trinidad while waiting for Sea Warrior to arrive.
