Since we have got back from Scotland, we have been in Olhao ocassionally popping over to Culatra when the wind gets up.
We went WOOFing for 2 weeks away from the boat and I have been doing lots of school work. I dropped my blog again ,as you probably noticed since you are reading this, for ages and plan to get back to a once per two week posting system.
You're probably thinking “what on earth is WWOOFing, is it some kind of dog oriented thing?” and the answer would be no, it’s not anything to do with dogs. It is, in fact a system in place in Portugal and the UK (and other places) which involves people(us) going to work on organic farms for a minimum of two weeks and getting food and accommodation for free in return. WWOOFing stands for; Worldwide Working on Organic Farms. We stayed with a family who lived about 400km north of the Algarve near a small town called Serpins. Their names were James, Lucy, (the parents) Harvey and Rubin (the 2 boys). The boys were 4 and 2 and always very dirty!! We did lots of different things while we were there. We picked fruit and veg, dug a few holes, made jam and jay even made hand cream out of plantain leaves!! The hole digging was done mainly by Dad and I. Dad dug a narrow trench for the pipe for the new soakaway system and I dug the start of the actual soakaway trench.
I have been doing LOTS of computer learning recently and I am learning Python Programming and getting started with Linux. It is all really fun and interesting.
We’ve been cycling a bit and once we went to a town called Quelfes where there was a flee market and I got a second-and scooter for €3!!
We re-met Mark who came to Olhao and who we had met 5 years before in the canary island. Since then he had built himself a new catamaran which he lived in with his girlfriend, Nur.
